Melbourne Storm is proud to announce Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd as the Club's Official Community Partner for its Round 23 game against Manly at HBF Park in Perth.
Storm's first NRL game in Perth since 2018 marks an exciting return to Western Australia, with the match day partnership centred on creating meaningful community impact and supporting the important work Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd is already delivering across the state.
Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd is a civil, mining and integrated services contractor that is 100% owned by Muntulgura Guruma Traditional Owners Tania Stevens and Samantha Connors from the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Established in 2004, Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd has grown into one of Australia's most successful Aboriginal-owned businesses, delivering projects and services for some of the nation's leading iron ore mining companies and other industrial clients.
It also creates employment opportunities for Aboriginal people across a broad range of roles, from traineeships and entry-level positions through to trades, supervisory and management careers.
Forming part of the Club’s Indigenous Round celebrations, the partnership will also provide a memorable opportunity for the Gur Wirimalpa Dreamtime Warriors junior rugby league players, who will take to the field at HBF Park for a special half-time game.
The Gur Wirimalpa Dreamtime Warriors are an Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd sponsored, Western Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rugby league club based in Perth, providing pathways and opportunities for young Indigenous athletes across the region.
Melbourne Storm CEO Justin Rodski said the match day partnership reflects the Club's commitment to making a lasting contribution to the rugby community in Western Australia.
