Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side produced an outstanding second-half comeback to defeat the Sydney Roosters after trailing by 16 points at halftime.
The Roosters came out firing and stunned Storm early, crossing in the opening minute to give the visitors an immediate advantage. Sydney continued to control possession and field position throughout the first half to build a commanding 16-0 lead at the break.
Despite the deficit, Storm emerged from the interval with renewed energy and completely shifted the momentum of the contest.
Suli Pole sparked the comeback with Melbourne’s opening try just minutes into the second half before Amare Milford crossed shortly after to quickly reduce the margin.
Dylan Brettle then powered over to continue Storm’s momentum as the home side piled pressure onto the Roosters defence.
With the match firmly swinging in Melbourne’s favour, Kobi Floro crossed in the 63rd minute to hand Storm the lead for the first time in the contest before Keaton Stutt sealed the result to complete an impressive five-try second-half performance.
Victory Isaako played a key role in the comeback, converting four trues to help guide Storm to the 28-16 victory.
The win marked one of Melbourne’s strongest second-half displays of the season, overturning a 16-point deficit with a dominant attacking performance across the final 40 minutes.
