RedZed Report: Round 13

The fortnightly RedZed Report, bringing you updates direct from Storm HQ about our injury list, club news and all things footy.

Injury Update

Ryan Papenhuyzen (concussion)

Sidelined since: Round 10

Football Operations Coordinator Ryan Hoffman said Paps is still being monitored closely by the club's medical staff. "We are taking it slow with him to make sure he is 100 percent healthy," Hoff said.

"He is progressing. He has started some physical work which will increase day by day - as long as he is symptom free."

Cameron Munster (foot)

Sidelined since: Round 9

Munny has been selected to play Origin I and is expected to make his return for Queensland.

Tyson Smoothy (knee)

Sidelined since: Round 10

Hooker Tyson Smoothy suffered a PCL rupture but has avoided surgery. "Tyson isn't running yet, he's only just out of his knee brace," Hoffman said.

"We will increase his workload in the next week or so." Smoothy is expected to be out of action for an extended period.

Max King (achilles)

Sidelined since: January 2021

A stalwart of this injury list, Max is making slow progress after a number of setbacks during his rehab (following off-season surgery). Still no expected return date yet.

Round 13 preview

Unfortunately, what should have been our first home game back at AAMI Park after four matches on the road will now be played on the Sunshine Coast. A win for our Queensland-based supporters, but a huge disappointment for the majority of our members. We (the majority of club staff at home in Melbourne) feel you.

Regardless, we're happy to see footy continue while we ride out this fourth (and hopefully, final) lockdown. Jahrome Hughes is the only regular member of our spine available for this match, but in Bellamy we trust. The Gold Coast have also lost four players to Origin duties and a raft of changes to the side include Ash Taylor returning from a hip injury to partner Jamal Fogarty in the halves.

The Titans have been in patchy form recently and were beaten comprehensively by the Sharks in round 12.

Club News

Alliance Airlines signs on with Storm

Australia’s largest aviation services provider Alliance Airlines signed on as the club's Official Airline Partner for the 2021 season.

Storm CEO Justin Rodski welcomed Alliance to Storm’s family of partners.

"Our team saw the benefits of using Alliance during the COVID-19 season in 2020 and we’re delighted to have them on board as our Official Airline Partner this season," he said.

Sunshine Coast stay extended

For the time being we're happy to stay up here and continue to do our jobs. Hopefully we're not here too long this time. We really want to get back to Victoria and play at home.

Origin reps join camp

The club will be represented by four proud Queenslanders (Christian Welch, Harry Grant, Felise Kaufusi and Cameron Munster) and Blues star Josh Addo-Carr in Origin I. The match will be played in Townsville, with Origin set to return to Melbourne in 2024.
