Bellamy: 'It took a bit of convincing for Dale and Paps to have a rest last week'

Craig Bellamy has revealed we have a few players who rate their kicking game a little more than they perhaps should.

Bellamy fronted the press on Wednesday and said the coaches had been discussing our third-string goal kicker, given both Cam Smith (AC joint) and Cam Munster (medial ligament) are unavailable for our Round 14 clash with the Roosters.

"We were just at Captain's Run deciding who should be our goal kicker on Thursday night," Bellamy said.

Bellamy: 'I don't get confident - but I'm never not confident either'

A few of the guys put their hands up, but a couple of them overestimated their ability to kick goals.

Craig Bellamy On our next best goal kicker

"Hopefully they can work it out amongst themselves... I’m not too optimistic.

"Dale (Finucane) seems to think he can kick a few goals and even Christian Welch is putting up his hand but I’m pretty sure those blokes won’t be kicking."

Despite maybe overestimating his kicking prowess, Bellamy said Dale was an important inclusion this week - he was rested in Round 13 with a few niggling injuries.

"He had a couple of minor injuries, he’s had them for a few weeks and he just kept battling on," Bellamy said.

"Because we only had a short turnaround we didn’t want those injuries getting worse, so hopefully he’ll be fresh as.

"He brings experience and enthusiasm, he’s great for the team and I’m sure they’ll enjoy having him back this week."

Ryan Papenhuyzen also returns to the starting side after being rested last week and apparently both players were reluctant to have a game off.

It wasn’t easy to get them to have a rest – they are both really proud footy players and proud Storm players, they want to get out there with their mates and play.

"It took a bit of convincing to get them to take the game off.

"Dale especially – I don’t think we could have made him rest another week."
