Junior Male Report: Finals Week 2 and Round 7

Melbourne Storm's SG Ball and Jersey Flegg sides were both in action this weekend, with Jersey Flegg continuing into next week against the Rabbitohs for Round 8 while SG Ball wrapped up an impressive 2026 campaign.

SG Ball Cup (U19)

Melbourne Storm’s SG Ball side have exited finals after a 36-10 loss against the Knights in their Week 2 Finals clash.

The Knights crossed twice in the opening stages before Jospeh Litidamu got on the board in the 30th minute to keep Melbourne within striking distance.

Trailing 20-6 at halftime, Storm continued to fight in the second stanza and were rewarded when Litidamu secured his second try of the afternoon in the 51st minute.

Despite that four-pointer, the Knights were able to respond with ball in hand and find points of their own to close out the match.

Although their campaign has come to an end, Storm’s SG Ball side can take plenty of confidence from a strong season that saw them record seven wins and finish second on the ladder.

Jersey Flegg Cup (U21)

Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side have gone down on the road 42-30 to the Canberra Raiders at Seiffert Oval.

Storm had an ideal start when Talas Abell crossed in the 4th minute, bulldozed his way through several would-be defenders to score a great solo try. A seesawing first half saw Canberra hit back with two quick tries before Delacruz Ripley found the line in the 19th minute.

Frank Howarth crossed in the 35th minute as Storm stayed firmly in the fight, heading into the interval trailing by just two points at 18-16.

Canberra gained momentum after the break but Melbourne refused to go away with Suli Pole scoring in his first game back from injury and Frank Howarth grabbing his second soon after.

Storm’s Jersey Flegg side will now turn its attention to Round 8 clash against the Rabbitohs at Seabrook Reserve this Friday at 2:00pm.
