Feeder report: Round 19

Melbourne Storm feeder club the Brisbane Tigers have kept their top-four aspirations alive with a come from behind victory over the PNG Hunters, overcoming a 12-0 deficit to run out eventual 32-18 winners.

Cole Geyer starred for the Tigers, scoring a try after entering the fray in the 30th minute, going on to take out Man of the Match honours.

Heading into the break trailing 12-4, tries to Geyer and fellow Storm squad member George Jennings after the resumption of play kickstarted the comeback, with the Tigers restricting the Hunters to just the one try for the second half.

The win now puts the Tigers level on points with the 4th placed Redcliffe Dolphins, with points now at a premium heading into the final three rounds of the season.

Meanwhile fellow Melbourne Storm feeder club the Sunshine Coast Falcons suffered a heartbreaking 30-28 loss right on the stroke of full time to the Wynumm Manly Seagulls.

After Grant Anderson opened the scoring in the 5th minute, both sides traded tries throughout the contest before a Josh Rogers penalty goal in the 79th minute ultimately proved the difference in the dying stages.

Both of Storm’s feeder clubs will return home next weekend, with the Falcons looking to bounce back against the last placed Ipswich Jets next Saturday at Sunshine Coast Stadium while the Tigers will be put to the test against the 1st placed Easts Logan Magpies at Totally Workwear Stadium.
