Feeder club report: Round 16

The Sunshine Coast Falcons and Brisbane Tigers both recorded wins on the road in Round 16 of the Hostplus Cup.

The Falcons kicked off the weekend’s matches with a 6-point victory over the Burleigh Bears. Going over with their first try in the opening five minutes, the visitors showcased a high-energy attack from the get-go.

Storm’s representatives were no exception with Sua Fa’alogo, Young Tonumaipea, Grant Anderson, Chris Lewis and Tepai Moeroa all putting the foot down to record over 100 run metres each.

The Tigers then backed it up with a 36-10 domination over Northern Pride up in Cairns. Forward Alec Macdonald showcased why he’s a regular amongst the Melbourne NRL squad, scoring a double for the boys in orange to go with 9 tackle-breaks, 13 hit-ups and 2 line-breaks.

The 21-year-old was joined on the scoreline by Storm teammates Cole Geyer, who went over the line for his second try of the season, and Jonah Pezet after the young-gun sunk five conversions to further the Brisbane side’s lead.

Next Saturday, the Falcons and Tigers will kick off simultaneously against the Souths Logan Magpies and Western Clydesdales, respectively in Round 17 of the Hostplus Cup.
