Matty Johns: 'Melbourne Storm is like a family'

The shutdown of the NRL has left rugby league great Matty Johns with a family dilemma as they decide whether to bring son Cooper home from Melbourne.

Matty has revealed son Cooper could leave the Storm to come back to Sydney with family amid the coronavirus chaos.

Cooper has spent three years in the Melbourne system and has settled in well as he works for his first-grade debut.

But recent developments surrounding the coronavirus may see Johns move back to Sydney to be with family.

"The Storm are a great club and we’ve got his family here (in Sydney), but they’re like a family down there (in Melbourne)."

"If he wants to stay down there and train, I have no problem with that. Of course his mum would love to see him home," Johns said.

"I’ve got great trust in the Melbourne Storm.

"Melbourne is a very good club and they look after their players."
