2019 NRL.com Fans' Poll results: Tedesco reigns supreme

The fans have spoken with James Tedesco named the game's best player and the ideal star to base a team around, while Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is the season's best recruit and Payne Haas the rookie of the year according to NRL.com's 2019 Fans Poll.

After more than 37,000 votes in the poll, competition leaders Melbourne were among the big winners of the poll, with Craig Bellamy pipping Des Hasler to be named the league's best coach, Storm players Cameron Munster and Josh Addo-Carr named the best players in their position and the club widely tipped to win this year's grand final.

They are also the team most fans most love to see their team beat.

Tedesco earned the most votes for the NRL's best player, best fullback and the first player you'd sign if you were starting a new club, edging out Storm skipper Cameron Smith, Knights young gun Kalyn Ponga and Sea Eagles star Tom Trbojevic for that latter honour.

Elsewhere Darren Lockyer got the fans' nod to be rugby league's next Immortal, ahead of Peter Sterling and Brad Fittler, while Perth is the preferred destination for the next NRL club and almost two-thirds of fans support the introduction of player transfer windows.

The fans believe the current stripping rule is a winner, sin bins should be used for foul play, there is room for improvement for the referees and the judiciary process, while they overwhelmingly want to see the Women's State of Origin concept extended to a three-game series.

This year's results brought some significant changes from last year's poll, when Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook got the nod as player of the year, with Anthony Seibold named the game's best coach and Tedesco ranked the game's fourth-best fullback of the season.
