Parramatta Eels 34 d Victoria Thunderbolts 16

The U18 Victoria Thunderbolts side faced a big challenge in travelling to Sydney to face the undefeated Eels team at New Era Stadium.

The Eels started well, skipping out to a 16-0 lead after 17 minutes.

Some good footy from the Thunderbolts saw them cross for two tries to fullback Dean Ieremia and prop Jay Natapu to narrow the gap to 16-12 at half time.

A disallowed try in the corner early in the second half was costly for the Thunderbolts, with the Eels crossing for two tries in four minutes to extend their lead to 28-12.

Centre Sione Finau finished a good try in the left corner to give the Thunderbolts a sniff with 19 minutes remaining, however a late Eels try secured victory.

The 16th placed Thunderbolts will search for their first win when they take on the 15th placed South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 7 of the S.G Ball Cup at Casey Fields this Saturday.

Kick-off at 2pm.

It has been a tough start for the Thunderbolts after re-entering the competition in 2019 - they have played three of the current top four in their five games so far.

The Victorian side will be looking for a good finish to the season when they take on the Rabbitohs (15th), West Coast Pirates (17th) and Western Suburbs Magpies (13th) over the last three rounds.
