Smith, Slater to be celebrated at Suncorp

Storm captain and Queensland legend Cameron Smith will be honoured at Suncorp Stadium next Wednesday night ahead of Origin III.

The Maroons will pay tribute to their all-time Games record holder who helped oversee the most successful run in Origin history, as Queensland won 11 of 12 series between 2006-2017.

The celebration of Smith will be part of a Queensland Captains tribute including Wally Lewis, Mal Meninga, Allan Langer and Darren Lockyer.

The night will also include a special tribute to Billy Slater who will be playing his 31st and final game for Queensland.

Slater will fittingly captain his state in his Origin swansong.

"Cameron and Billy have been two of Queensland's greatest players and have been a key part of their successful dynasty," NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo said.

"They have created history together and we want to provide both players a fitting tribute and give Queenslanders and all fans of the game the chance to farewell their heroes."
