Papenhuyzen shines in Falcons win

Storm listed youngster Ryan Papenhuyzen stood tall on Sunday, kicking Sunshine Coast to victory with a last minute field goal against Norths Devils.

With scores locked in the dying stages of the contest the 19-year old capped off a strong performance, breaking the deadlock and in turn allowing the Falcons to snap their two-game losing streak.

"I thought Ryan Papenhuyzen was our best player. He was really good for us and stayed really composed throughout the game," Falcons Coach Craig Ingebrigtsen said.

"He wants to learn, he wants to get better. He was in the right spot at the right time.

"He really understands the game and he understands what he can do to influence the game."

Earlier, Justin Olam sent the Falcons on their way to open the scoring sparking the home crowd who were treated to an end-to-end contest.

Ingebrigtsen was pleased with his side's efforts with young talent stepping up when they needed to be counted.

"It was a good result for us for a really young team we stayed really composed in real clutch moments," Ingebrigtsen said.
