Seve calls time on career

Melbourne Storm have today announced the retirement of Marion Seve, who has called time on his NRL career following the 2026 season.

Storm Player #193, Seve has been a much-loved figure at the Club since making his NRL debut against the Canberra Raiders in 2019. The Ipswich-born centre concludes his first-grade career with 52 NRL games for Storm over eight seasons in Melbourne.

Seve worked his way through the ranks with the Ipswich Jets, Souths Logan Magpies, Brisbane Tigers and Wests Tigers before joining Storm in 2018. His first-grade career has also included three international appearances for Samoa.

Seve has overcome several significant injury setbacks throughout his career, displaying resilience and determination to return to the field. His return from a serious eye injury in 2025 capped off an inspirational comeback, scoring a crucial try in the Round 24 win over the Panthers before helping Bellamy’s team to the 2025 NRL Finals.

The 31-year-old, who is the brother-in-law of Storm winger and Victorian pathway product Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown, reflected on his decision to retire and his pride in representing Melbourne Storm.

“To finish my NRL career at Melbourne Storm is something I’m incredibly proud of,” Seve said.

“There have been plenty of challenges along the way, but I’ve been lucky enough to have some great people around me who have helped me through the tough times and made the good times even more special.

“I’m grateful to everyone at Storm who has supported me throughout my time here and given me the opportunity to represent this Club. Wearing the purple jersey has been a privilege and I’ll always be proud to be a part of the Storm family.”

Director of Football Frank Ponissi highlighted the significant impact Seve has had on Melbourne Storm, both on and off the field, since his arrival in 2018.

“Maz is a much-loved and respected member of our Club who demonstrates what it means to be a Melbourne Storm player through his hard work, resilience and respect for the jersey.

“Since arriving at our Club, Maz has taken every challenge in his stride, overcoming several long-term injuries and working extremely hard to return to the field after each setback.

“His determination to represent this Club and be a valued member of our squad is a true testament to Maz’s character.

“The Club congratulates Maz on a terrific rugby league career and wishes him and his family the very best for his next chapter.”
