If you needed assurance of just how big next Friday night’s meeting is against the Leeds Rhinos, Billy Slater is more than give it to you.

The Club has announced on Monday that Downer have joined the World Club Challenge as naming rights partner for the marquee game.

The Downer World Club Challenge will see the best rugby league team in the world decided at AAMI Park on February 16.

Slater was on hand to unveil the partnership and at the same time declare he will be there to run out with his teammates next Friday night.

“I will be playing, unless something happens in the next week I’ll be out there definitely,”

“Downer have come on board and we are really excited about that. To represent them when we run out onto AAMI Park, it just shows how important people see this game.

“This is certainly a big game, it is at the start of the year which is a little bit rare but at the end of the day it is a World Club Challenge.

“You’ve got to win the competition to play in it, it is a privilege to play in a game like this.”

Slater said there was no fitness concerns over himself or any other Storm player who took part in the World Cup at the end of last year.

“We’re professional enough to keep ourselves in reasonable nick over the off-season,” Slater said.

“I know myself that I will have enough work in me to play a game.”
