Easts Tigers slumped to a 22-12 defeat on Sunday against a strong Redcliffe Dolphins side.

Storm prop Mark Nicholls put the Tigers in front early when he collected a grubber kick to score.

However the Dolphins ran in the next four tries of the game to claim the win.

Nicholls had 104 metres on the day as he continues to build towards an NRL return.

“He is starting to get a few more minutes under his belt which he needed to in the last couple of weeks,” Easts coach Scott Sipple said.

“He will be better for the run, it was a pretty physical encounter and a good game of footy all round.

“Obviously we are disappointed not being on the right side of the scoreboard but it was a good, tough game of footy.”

Redcliffe Dolphins 22 (Myles Taueli, Christian Hazard, Zach Strasser, Daniel Bridge tries; Tyson Gamble 3 goals) def Easts Tigers 12 (Mark Nicholls, Mat Pitman tries; Brandon Downey 2 goals) at Dolphin Oval.
