NRL Premiership - Round 02 - Melbourne Storm V Gold Coast Titans - 13 March 2016 - AAMI Park, Melbourne, Vic - Ian Knight

The dynamic Victorian began the season by playing the first six games of the season on the wing.

His strong early season form was derailed by a knee injury which sidelined him for several weeks.

Tonumaipea made his return to the side in Round 15 and played five consecutive games, three of which at fullback as he filled in brilliantly for the injured Cameron Munster.

However with senior players returning from injury Tonumaipea dropped back to reserved grade in Round 21 and played out the remainder of the season for Easts Tigers in the Queensland Cup.
