Hopes of a Falcons upset were ultimately short-lived as a half-time lead turned into a 40-10 loss at the hands of the top-of-the-table Townsville Blackhawks.

Sunshine Coast lead 10-6 at the break on the back of completing 19 of 21 sets in the first half.

However that efficiency dropped off after the break and the visitors made them pay with an unrelenting 34-0 second half performance.

Joe Stimson was the only Storm player in action for the Falcons and was impressive once again against quality competition.

“His attention to detail was really good on the weekend. He ran at the line pretty well and pushed hard, he was aggressive with his carries,” Craig Ingebrigtsen said.

“He did all the things you’d expect of a full-time player, we are really happy with what Joe delivered on the weekend.

“There was no real threat down his side, defensively he did a great job.”

The Falcons currently sit in seventh spot on the Intrust Super Cup ladder with a 4-3 record.

They will look to bounce back this week when they host the Ipswich Jets on Saturday.
