A solid week on the training track has Storm primed for Round 1 against the Dragons in just over a week's time.

Speaking to media at the Club's season launch at Crown Casino on Friday, Head Coach Craig Bellamy was satisfied that his side had rid themselves of the handling errors that plagued them during the pre-season trials.

"The training has been really good this week, obviously our handling has been a lot better than it was in our two (trial) games," Bellamy said.

"It is still some time until the game so we don't want to be getting too excited to early. They've got a bit of a break after today so hopefully put their feet up a bit and they can come back and we'll slowly build up for the St George game."

Never one to dabble in pre-season predictions, Bellamy admitted the premiership race was wide open heading into the 2016 season.

"You never know how the competition is going to go, at the end of the day probably all the teams are capable of making the top eight," he said.

"If you start making predictions you will be red faced at the end of it.

"Everyone has prepared well in the pre-season... There are always some teams that surprise and some teams who always disappoint so hopefully we are in the first group."

Melbourne will be looking to kick off its 2016 season with a bang next Monday night against the Dragons at AAMI Park.

Be there in Round 1 on Monday 7 March at AAMI Park.
