Storm fans will not have to wait long this season to see the Thunderbolts in action with the Club today announcing the team will play a Round 5 curtain raiser at AAMI Park.
The NYC team will play the feature home game in Melbourne on April 3 before the Storm take on Newcastle in what will be a double-dose of football for Storm fans.
The U20s will also play nine home games on the Sunshine Coast as part of an exciting new long-term development project in the region.
The Storm Academy is currently in its inaugural year and is based at the state-of-the-art sporting precinct on the Sunshine Coast.
The Academy will provide the Club with an innovative development program that will see a clear pathway provided for young talent at the local level right through to the NRL system.
Melbourne will also continue to maintain its strong links with Queensland feeder teams Brisbane Easts and Sunshine Coast Falcons.
The NYC team will be playing a three-way trial match against Easts and the Falcons as a curtain raiser to Storm’s pre-season hit-out against Wests Tigers on February 13.
