Melbourne set an Origin record on Wednesday night with 91,513 attending Game 2 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The near capacity crowd created an electric atmosphere as the Blues levelled the series as the weight of support slightly favoured the Maroons with Storm's Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Will Chambers all representing Queensland.

The attendance is the highest ever in Origin history, surpassing the previous record of 88,836 at Homebush in 1999.

New South Wales and Queensland will head to Brisbane for the series decider to be played at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday 8 July.
