Craig Bellamy says he will assess his options to fill the fullback role vacated by an injured Billy Slater as Melbourne prepare to face the Raiders in Canberra on Sunday.

Slater will be sidelined for four weeks due to a left shoulder injury sustained in Storm's win over the Warriors on Easter Monday after scans yesterday revealed a labral tear of his Glenohumeral joint.

"He's a hard guy to replace," said Bellamy prior to training on Thursday afternoon.

We return to AAMI Park in Round 7 to host the Roosters. Be there on Saturday 18 April, 7:30pm.

"Not only with his footy ability and his athletic ability it's what he does for the team with his communication as well.

"He's a hard guy to replace but having said that when someone misses out someone else gets a chance."

Bellamy and the Storm coaching staff have a number of options to fill the fullback role, whether it be sliding a replacement into the number one jersey or opting for a back line reshuffle. The Storm coach explained he would not be rushed into a decision on Thursday particularly in a short week.

"Our job is to find someone else to put in there and hopefully they can do the job for us, I'm sure they will," Bellamy said.

"We've got a few young guys, we've got a couple experienced guys as well.

"Hopefully we'll find the right one.

"It's a short turnaround again so we actually haven't been on the training paddock until today."
