Melbourne’s Thunderbolts have fallen 8-36 to South Sydney in a disappointing loss at ANZ Stadium on Friday night.

Matt Adamson’s were side looking to consolidate their place inside the NYC top eight against the 10th placed Rabbitohs however were unable to hold out a rampant South Sydney outfit all evening.

Tom Hughes length of the field try to open the scoring in the 14th minute of play set the tone for the evening with the young Storm side forced to do plenty of defending.

The home side were in again from the ensuing set with Aaron Grey finding a hole in the Thunderbolts defence to double his side’s lead. The advantage grew to 18 points when Hughes scored his second of the evening, leaving Storm with a mountain to climb as the half-time break approached.

The task proved too much for the Thunderbolts, with late tries to Suliasi Vunivalu and Nelson Asofa-Solomona not enough to overturn the deficit.

With the bye next weekend, the Thunderbolts will travel to Townsville in Round 12 to take on the North Queensland Cowboys.
