Melbourne Storm has announced its latest Life Member inductees at Monday’s annual Life Member Dinner at AAMI Park.
Prop Tui Kamikamica and halfback Jahrome Hughes joined long-serving Club doctor Jason Chan as the 2026 Life Member inductees, recognising a decade of outstanding service and contribution to Melbourne Storm.
The Club also recognised significant staff milestones throughout the evening, including the presentation of the annual Volunteer Appreciation Award and the John Ribot Leadership Grant.
Dr Jason Chan – Life Member #43
Dr Jason Chan commenced at Melbourne Storm as the Club’s Chief Medical Officer in November 2014 and remained in his role at the Club for over a decade, becoming a mainstay within the football program during a period which yearned two Premierships and six Grand Final appearances.
Chan’s tenure of over 10 years saw him become one of the NRL’s longest serving CMOs and widely regarded as one of the best in the game. His energetic and enthusiastic manner saw him build great rapport and trust with the playing group and staff across football and administration during his time in the position.
His work across the 2020 and 2021 COVID effected seasons proved to be some of Chan’s most important and crucial work at Storm as he played a pivotal role in the Club’s response to the pandemic which culminated in a Premiership win and Preliminary Final berth across the two seasons.
Tui Kamikamica – Life Member #44 (Storm Player #181)
Tui Kamikamica has been a consistent and experienced member of Storm’s forward pack since debuting for the Club in 2017.
The Fijian international has become a mainstay of Craig Bellamy’s squad, known for his powerful running, strong defence and leadership. Kamikamica has played 142 games for Storm and has been a member of the Club’s Leadership Group since 2025.
Kamikamica is also the captain of Fiji Bati, having led his country since 2023 and represented Fiji in 23 Test matches. A respected leader both on and off the field, Tui has been an important figure within Storm’s playing group, marking his 10th year in Melbourne in 2026.
Jahrome Hughes – Life Member #45 (Storm Player #184)
Jahrome Hughes has established himself as one of the NRL’s premier halfbacks and a key figure in the Melbourne Storm’s success over the past decade.
The Wellington-born playmaker joined Storm in 2017 after stints with the Gold Coast Titans and North Queensland Cowboys and has since developed into an influential Club leader and now Storm Vice-Captain.
A Premiership player and key component of Storm’s triumphant 2020 outfit, Hughes has gone from strength to strength since and sits among the game’s elite. The 2024 Dally M Medal winner, Hughes has made 184 appearances for the Club and has committed his future to Melbourne through to the end of the 2030 season.
The New Zealand international has played 10 Tests for the Kiwis and represented the New Zealand Māori on three occasions.
Volunteer Appreciation Award
A football club cannot operate without the hard work and dedication of volunteers who generously give up their time to help the Club succeed.
The 2026 Volunteer Appreciation Award was awarded to long-standing volunteer Brian Dobson.
Brian has supported the football department through his regular laundry and cleaning duties, helping ensure players and staff have everything they need each week. His commitment, reliability and willingness to lend a hand have made him a valued member the Club’s off-field operations.
John Ribot Leadership Grant
The John Ribot Leadership grant provides financial support to inspire and support the leadership development of the people at Melbourne Storm. The initiative was first introduced in 2021.
The recipient of the award for 2026 was Charlie Waite.
