Frank Ponissi Injury Update: Round 11

Melbourne Storm Director of Football Frank Ponissi has provided an injury update ahead of Saturday’s Magic Round game against the Parramatta Eels.

Sua Fa’alogo (facial):

“Sua had a suspected facial fracture on Sunday. He came off the ground and passed his HIA, but it was a sensible decision to keep him off the field. Scans on Monday showed he was clear of any fracture and therefore available for selection this weekend for Magic Round.”

Hugo Peel (knee):

“It’s bad luck for Hugo. He’s played the last two NRL games and looked very comfortable on the left wing. Hugo played the whole game on Sunday (v Wests Tigers) but unfortunately sustained a knee medial ligament injury. Scans have determined that he’ll be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.”

Alec MacDonald (hamstring):

“Alec was close for selection this week. Given the nature of his injury (hamstring) we decided to hold him for another week. We expect Alec to be available for selection in Round 12 (v Bulldogs).”

Tyran Wishart (ankle):

“Tyran is recovering well. He’s not ready to train properly yet, and we’re expecting he’ll be sidelined for at least another 4-5 weeks (following his syndesmosis injury in Round 9)."

Marion Seve (tricep):

“Marion is probably a bit longer in his recovery (than Wishart). We’re aiming for Round 16/17 for Maz and his return. He’s working hard on the sideline with our rehab staff, running well, and doing more each week.”

Xavier Coates (achilles):

“Xavier’s running well but he's not ready for full training. We’re hoping Xavier will integrate into team training over the next two weeks. At this stage, he's still a few weeks away from returning to playing."

Tui Kamikamica (medical):

“Tui has done everything he needs to do from a medical perspective. He’s back with the rehab group running and building his fitness. We haven’t set a date for Tui’s return, but we’re hopeful he’ll return at some point this year."
