On Saturday night, one player’s name will be etched into history when the Spirit of ANZAC Medal is awarded once again.
Presented to the best player on the field in Melbourne’s annual ANZAC Day clash since 2009, the medal recognises the standout performer in one of the Club’s most significant fixtures.
The recipient is selected by the winning coach immediately after the full-time siren, before being presented on-field during the post-match ceremony.
Storm has proudly featured in the ANZAC Day tradition since 2009, first facing the New Zealand Warriors in a series of memorable contests, followed by a one-off clash with Manly in 2015, before beginning a new chapter against South Sydney in 2024.
To receive the Spirit of ANZAC Medal is a special honour, with the winner joining a distinguished list of players who have delivered on the big stage.
Adam Blair became the inaugural recipient after Storm’s 14-all draw with the New Zealand Warriors in 2009. Club legend Cameron Smith claimed the award in 2019, joining fellow Storm greats Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk on the honour roll.
Recent winners include Nick Meaney in 2023, Cameron Munster in 2024, and Eli Katoa in 2025, after Storm’s 24-16 victory over the Rabbitohs in front of a sold-out AAMI Park crowd.
