Feeder Report: Round 14 and Round 16

Melbourne Storm's feeder teams, Sunshine Coast Falcons, the Brisbane Tigers, and North Sydney Bears, were in action over the weekend, competing in Round 14 of the Queensland Cup and Round 16 of the NSW Cup.

Brisbane Tigers

The Brisbane Tigers secured a dominant 36-16 victory over the Papua New Guinea Hunters on Sunday.

The first half was a tightly contested, with the Hunters taking a 16-8 lead into the half-time break. However, the Tigers regrouped and came out firing in the second half, scoring five unanswered tries to seal the win.

Kane Bradley, Coby Williamson, Keagan Russell-Smith, and Josiah Pahulu all played pivotal roles in the victory. Williamson had a strong performance, crossing for a try.

The Tigers will look to continue their strong form when they take on the Ipswich Jets this Sunday.

Sunshine Coast Falcons

The Sunshine Coast Falcons unfortunately suffered a heavy 18-46 defeat to the WM Seagulls on Sunday.

Sunshine Coast started strongly and looked the better side in the first half, taking an 18-14 lead into the break.

However, the Seagulls came out revitalised in the second half, piling on seven tries and leaving the Falcons unable to respond.

Jonah Pezet and Lazarus Vaalepu both featured, putting in solid minutes. It was a significant outing for Pezet, who played his first full game after recovering from a recent knee injury, following his previous return from an ACL injury. He came through unscathed and got valuable game time under his belt.

The Falcons will be aiming to bounce back this weekend when they face the Western Clydesdales on Sunday.

North Sydney Bears

The North Sydney Bears delivered a solid performance but ultimately went down 12-24 to the Newtown Jets.

The first half was tightly contested, with little separating the sides. The Bears managed to edge ahead and took a 12-10 lead into half-time. However, Newtown came out stronger in the second half, scoring three tries to secure the win.

Ativalu Lisati, Bronson Garlick, Joe Chan, and Gabriel Satrick all featured and contributed strongly with solid minutes.

The Bears will have a bye this weekend, giving them a chance to regroup ahead of their Round 18 rematch against the Newtown Jets.
