Munster to lead Queensland Maroons

Queensland Maroons head coach Billy Slater has confirmed Cameron Munster will captain the Maroons in Game II.

Slater informed the playing group of the appointment following a training session at Twin Waters this morning.

Munster takes the reins from Daly Cherry-Evans, who steered the Maroons to Origin series wins in 2020 and 2022-23 in a decorated representative career.

The must-win Perth clash will now carry extra significance for Munster, who will also notch up his 20th Origin match.

That milestone means the Rockhampton product joins an illustrious group as a FOGS Dick “Tosser” Turner medal recipient.

The Maroons will be in Gympie today for the Queensland Maroons Westpac Fan Day.

Slater has also confirmed Winton product and Canterbury Bulldogs forward Kurt Mann will make his Origin debut.
