Feeder Report: Round 8 & 9

All three of Melbourne Storm's feeder teams were in action over the weekend for Round 8 of the Queensland and Round 9 NSW Cup competitions.

Sunshine Coast Falcons

The Falcons took on the Townsville & Districts Blackhawks on Saturday and came away with a hard-fought 36–30 win.

It was a tightly contested match, with the Falcons edging ahead 16–12 at halftime. They carried that momentum into the second half and finished strongly to secure the victory.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona was a standout, scoring two tries and making two line breaks. Lazarus Vaalepu also impressed with a solid all-round performance.

The Falcons will look to continue their form in two weeks time when they take on the Tweed Seagulls.

Brisbane Tigers

The Brisbane Tigers took on Central Queensland on Saturday but fell short despite a strong effort, going down 20–34.

The Tigers had a slow first half, scoring just one try and trailing 6–14 at the break. They improved in the second half, crossing the line three times, but couldn’t halt the Capras’ momentum.

Coby Williamson and Keagan Russell-Smith both featured for Brisbane and had impressive performances.

The Tigers will aim to bounce back in two weeks when they face the Redcliffe Dolphins.

North Sydney Bears

The Bears were up against the Warriors on Sunday but suffered a heavy 14–56 defeat.

North Sydney struggled to gain traction early, scoring just one try in the first half and trailing 8–24 at the break. The second half saw the Warriors dominate, running in six tries to put the result beyond doubt.

Storm Academy player Jak Goulding came off the bench to feature for the Bears.

North Sydney will look to regroup when they face the Newcastle Knights this Sunday.
