Bellamy's Round 6 Rundown

Catch up on all the best bits from Craig Bellamy's chat with the media ahead of Melbourne Storm's clash against the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs on Friday night.

Preparation for Round 6

"We've had a bit of a longer turnaround with the Thursday night game, so I think we're all pretty fit and we had a couple of days off this week so hopefully that freshens us up a bit and we’re ready for tomorrow night.”

Taking on the Bulldogs

"They’re a very capable side, they've got a couple of halves that are really experienced and they’re big bodies that run the ball so that gives them plenty of drive.”

“They’ve got a good dummy half that's got good pace and good experience, plus some experience and younger guys that give them some fast legs, so we know it's going to be a real tough game.”

NAS return

"We’ll just see where he finishes up as we had a few guys that didn't train today but he's obviously getting closer."

“There's been a lot of noise about it but he had a hamstring injury for four or five weeks during the end of preseason, so going into the season that's obviously put him back a bit.”

"He played well up in [NSW Cup] last week, so you know if he can keep that up he’ll be back in the side there at some stage.”

Competition for spots

"You're always looking OK when you've got a fairly fit squad but where you get in a bit of strife is when you get a couple of injuries in the one position or one area but fortunately for us we haven't really had that yet.

“Wishy has done a great job but you know we’ve got a few guys that can that can play that position, I think Bronson played last week actually but he hasn't done any training for a fair while.”

“It’s going to take him a little bit longer but hopefully those guys can get plenty of minutes in for our feeder teams.”

"It gives us that little bit of extra depth and you know at some stage, we know we're going to need it, so the more footy we can get into those guys coming back, the better we'll be in in the long run.”
