Season in Review: Tristan Powell

Adding great value to Storm’s forward stocks this season, Tristan Powell showed that an NRL debut may not be too far off in the distant future, proving to be a standout player for the Easts Tigers in the HostPlus competition.

A key player in the Premiership winning Tigers side that broke a 32-year title drought, Powell opened the scoring in the grand final, barging his way through the defence to slam the ball down next to the posts.

Scoring eight tries and having 40 tackle breaks in his 21 appearances, the Goondiwindi junior’s strong season was rewarded with Forward of the Year honours at the Brisbane Tigers Player of the Year Awards night.

Showcasing his strong running game and hard hitting defence, the former U16 and U18 QLD Maroons representative racked up 699 post contact metres and 477 tackles at 93% efficiency.
