Feeder report: Round 15

The Brisbane Tigers have jumped to fourth on the 2023 Hostplus Cup ladder after an away win while the Sunshine Coast Falcons continued to struggle to find their footing at their home ground.

The clash between Tigers and Ipswich Jets at North Ipswich Reserve was one that had plenty of passion and flair with the visitors taking home the points courtesy of a 22-point win.

Following a Round 16 return at NRL level, George Jennings got things going for the visitors thanks to a first half try, however the home side still held the advantage at half-time with a solid 24-12 lead. Bouncing back, the Tigers jumped out of the blocks in the second 40 minutes to take the lead, leaving the home team scoreless.

In an exciting finish, the final six minutes saw the Tigers find another pocket of power with Corey Thompson, Storm contracted player Tristan Powell and Saimone Ahomana all scoring tries to secure the visitors an impressive win.

Further north, the Falcons suffered a third consecutive loss at Sunshine Coast Stadium to a fired-up PNG Hunters keen on redemption following a disappointing Round 14 result.

Young Tonumaipea, Grant Anderson, Tepai Moeroa, Jayden Nikorima, Jack Howarth and Chris Lewis made up the Storm representation on field.

The two feeder clubs will be on the road for Round 16 as the Falcons face the Burleigh Bears, while the Tigers take on Northern Pride.
