Grill’d to fuel Storm and Lightning

A double serving of Grill’d has been locked in for the Storm Group with Australia’s favourite healthy burger brand setting new ground by partnering with both Melbourne Storm and Sunshine Coast Lightning.

Based in Melbourne, Grill’d joined Storm as a premium partner in 2020 and now has extended its commitment to both Storm Group clubs by also linking with the Lightning for the upcoming Suncorp Super Netball season.

The new partnership was launched today in front of diners at simultaneous in-store events at Grill’d restaurants at Swan St, Richmond in Melbourne and Kawana on the Sunshine Coast.

As part of its Storm Group partnership, Grill’d will continue to have its branding on the prominent top back of Melbourne Storm’s playing jersey through until 2026, while the Grill’d name appears on the lower front of Lightning’s playing dress.

Both clubs will be “Fuell'd by Grill’d” with post-match meals and Grill’d will sponsor Storm’s try celebrations after each four-pointer at home games highlighted by flame throwers, touchline bolsters, LED and big screen advertising.

As part of the new partnership, Lightning athletes have already started to team up with Storm players to create innovative digital and social content, reaching one of the largest and most engaged sporting audiences in the country.

Storm CEO Justin Rodski said Grill’d’s new partnership was an exciting outcome for the Storm Group.

“We’re delighted to have Grill’d as a partner for both of Storm Group’s elite teams – Storm and Lightning,” he said.

“With Storm, we have seen the mutual benefits the Grill’d partnership has achieved over the first three years and we look forward to building on those with the Lightning’s inclusion this year.

“Recently we experienced Grill’d’s fantastic support for our club when they helped to fund Ryan Papenhuyzen’s trip to an injury recovery specialist in the United States which, as well as helping Ryan in his bid to return to the field, received widespread media coverage and featured as a documentary on Fox Sports and Kayo.

In Due Time

Having Grill’d on board with as both a Storm and Lightning partner is an exciting development for us and is a forerunner to what we hope to achieve with other partners in the future.

Sunshine Coast Lightning CEO Danielle Smith said she was excited to welcome Grill’d to Lightning’s group of valued partners.

“Having Grill’d come on board to support Lightning and Storm in 2023 is incredibly exciting for the Storm Group,” she said.

“They have been fantastic supporters of Storm for a few years now, and to extend that support to Lightning demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to sport — both in rugby league and netball.

“We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with the Grill’d team as they help to fuel our players after every home game at UniSC Arena.”

Grill’d Chief Marketing Officer Ben Goss is equally thrilled about the continued partnership.

“Partnering with two of Australia’s most successful and respected sporting teams is an incredible opportunity for our business,” he said.

We both share a passion for supporting local community and leading an active, healthy lifestyle so it was an easy decision to continue our relationship with Storm and establish the new connection with Sunshine Coast Lightning.

“Grill’d is the only brand recommended by club dieticians and nutritionists at the highest level so it’s incredibly rewarding to know we’re fuelling elite performance whilst still delivering a delicious product these athletes crave.

“We can’t wait to support, innovate and grow these partnerships over the next four years and beyond.”

Grill’d has been Australia’s local homegrown burger experts for almost 20 years, serving up delicious 100% natural healthy burgers without nasties like artificial colours, flavours and preservatives and packing them full of flavour by using locally sourced, quality ingredients.

Storm starts its 2023 home campaign against the Canterbury Bulldogs at AAMI Park on Saturday night (7.35pm kickoff).
