Statement from Storm CEO Justin Rodski on the World Cup

Congratulations to Mal Meninga and the Kangaroos on winning their 12th Rugby League World Cup final and to Brad Donald and the Jillaroos on their third consecutive Women's World Cup title.

Storm members and fans can be proud of the way our players have performed over the last six weeks.

We are particularly proud of what Harry and Cameron have been able to achieve with the Kangaroos and the way they have represented their country and Storm during their World Cup campaign.

It’s been a great tournament run by John Dutton and his team and has again shown how far the international game has come in recent years.

The decision by more high-profile players choosing to represent their country has clearly evened up the competition which has been great for the tournament and for the game more broadly.

While the Kangaroos may have been too strong for the Samoan’s overnight, the spirit and passion of the Samoan community over the last few weeks - particularly in Victoria - has shown how popular the game is and how much potential growth there is in our game locally.

Acknowledgement of Country
