Storm present Women of Storm warmup tee

As the annual NRL Women of Storm Round approaches, Melbourne Storm are proud to release their 2022 Women of Storm warm-up tee that we will be wearing for Women in League Round.

This year’s design takes inspiration from the phrase “Strength in Equality”, focusing on educating the community on how much stronger we can be, if we are all equal.

The base colouring of the tee is the iconic Storm navy. The front features a hexagon, a symbol of strength. The shape is then layered, with accents of, long-term Melbourne Storm partner, the Victorian Women’s Trust’s navy and teal, as well as accents of the Storm purple, and a new colour - coral.

The layers go on to further represent individual people and the power each person has to instil change. The overlapping linework of the layers and hexagons represent continuity and time, putting emphasis on the journey that is required to create change.

The sleeves have a cuff that features all colours and the campaign tagline ‘the future ‘=’ gender equality’ in a continuous pattern.

The back of the tee showcases a large equals sign. An iconic symbol in the fight for equality, it signifies how we are all equal and ties back to the tagline.

The warmup tee is available from the Storm online store now and will be available for purchase from the Storm store on game day at AAMI Park from Round 21.

With Women in League round coinciding with Storm’s Round 20 clash against the Warriors in New Zealand, the Club will continue the acknowledgment into Round 21 when they return to AAMI Park to face the Titans, wearing the tees at training sessions and for on-field game day warm up.

Alongside the tee, a Women in League beanie and scarf in complimentary designs will be released soon.

This year’s NRL-wide Women in League Round theme, ‘Play Your Part’, will see the footy community rally together to accelerate the path to gender equality as only through teamwork, will we harness our collective strength and achieve success.

Melbourne Storm has reaffirmed its commitment to ‘playing its part’ in the fight for gender equality with the launch of the Women of Storm program earlier this year. This initiative celebrates the contribution of women in its elite sporting organisations while giving voice to the women and men fighting for positive change, inclusiveness and equality.
