Current Storm NRL squad member Jayden Nikorima and 2021 Storm debutant Daniel Atkinson picked up man-of-the-match awards as the Brisbane Tigers and Sunshine Coast Falcons scored victories in round three of the Hostplus Cup at the weekend.

Nikorima had three try assists in the Tigers’ 22-12 defeat of the PNG Hunters on the Gold Coast to remain unbeaten in 2022, while the Falcons made it two from three by beating Souths Logan 28-16 at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

Atkinson’s 80 minutes at halfback featured three try assists, including the match sealer from a kick to the corner, and two linebreak assists, as well as 27 tackles, while centre Grant Anderson, who trained with Storm over the pre-season, ran for a game-high 216 metres.

Storm forward Jordan Grant made his return from injury for the Tigers and played 46 minutes off the interchange bench, amassing more than a hundred metres in a strong performance.

The Tigers sit in third place on the ladder, while the Falcons are sixth.
