As Melbourne's fresh coronavirus outbreak began to intensify, the city's professional sporting teams realised that they had to leave town if they wanted to keep playing.

One of the first to do so was the Melbourne Storm.

The NRL club made a quick exit and headed to Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

They've set up base there and it could well be for the rest of the season.

Their Director of Football Frank Ponissi spoke to NewsRadio's David Rowlands.
