Melbourne Storm has today released forward Patrick Kaufusi from the remainder of his contract with the club to allow him to take up an opportunity with the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Patrick has been with Storm since the start of the 2018 season and became the third of the Kaufusi brothers to play an NRL game for Melbourne when he made his debut in round 16 last year.
He gave his family another proud moment when he joined his elder brother Felise on the field for the first time in an NRL game in the round 8 fixture against Cronulla this season.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here in Melbourne and I’m very proud to have had the chance to be part of such a great club. It is something I’ll always remember,” Patrick said.
“I’ve made some lifelong friends at Storm and my game has really benefited from what I’ve learned from our coaching and training staff and my teammates.”
General Manager - Football Frank Ponissi said the club wished Patrick all the best with his future on and off the field.
“Pat has been a tremendous clubman at the Melbourne Storm during his two seasons at the club,” he said.
“He has remained incredibly positive at all times despite being 18th man on countless occasions.
“His enthusiastic attitude despite his limited opportunities earned him a high level of respect amongst his teammates and coaches. He was also very popular with the squad.
“We wish Pat all the very best at his new club and trust that he gets a lot more deserved opportunities to play regular NRL both in 2019 and in the future.”
Over the next 10 days, the club will make announcements on additions to our Top 30 squad.
