Flying Fijian scores hat trick as Storm win over Raiders

Suli Vunivalu scored the fifth hat trick of his career as Melbourne Storm continued its perfect start to season 2019.

The Fijian high flyer opened the scoring with a try off a Jahrome Hughes pass and crossed over a second time only 10 minutes later from a Brodie Croft kick-ahead.

He clinched the hat trick with less than 30 minutes played and put the visiting side out to a 14-0 lead before half time.

While Storm controlled the game early, the Raiders evened up possession in the second half and hit the scoreboard through Jarrod Croker.

Strong defence on the line prevented a Josh Papalii try and potential Canberra comeback.

Storm hit back with a 60m run from Felise Kaufusi which lead to a try from Nelson Asofa-Solomona to stretch the lead out to 22-4 with under 20 minutes on the clock.

Croker crossed again but the margin was too great for the Raiders and Storm won its first game on the road.
