Thursday night football
The 2019 NRL season kicks-off in Melbourne this Thursday as Melbourne Storm host the Brisbane Broncos at AAMI Park.
If recent history is anything to go by, this year’s season opener promises to be a thriller.
Storm last met the Broncos in round 14, with skipper Cameron Smith leading the side to a 32-16 win, amassing 50 tackles.
But the final margin only tells part of the story - Storm trailed 12-8 at halftime and Brisbane had an opportunity to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat late in the match.
Slater Stand revealed
Storm legend Billy Slater will be immortalised at AAMI Park before kick-off on Thursday night.
The Slater Stand (northern end of the stadium) will be officially revealed before the game, recognising Billy's enormous impact on the club - both on and off the field.
Roaming Thunder
Melbourne Storm's new hip hop dance crew - Roaming Thunder - will step up to game day for the first time on Thursday night.
The Roaming Thunder brings together performers from across hip hop, street, break dancing and acrobatics and will bring more energy and more fan interaction to home games at AAMI Park.
