The Purple Pride runs deep in South Sydney.

Off the 33 players on the Rabbitohs NRL list this season, nine have come through the Melbourne Storm system.

Even their head coach Anthony Seibold and his predecessor and most recent Premiership coach Michael McGuire are graduates of the Craig Bellamy school of coaching.

Their captain Greg Inglis made his name in the purple jersey where he electrified the competition between 2005-2010, scoring 78 in 117 games for Storm.

Current five-eighth Cody Walker also spent the 2014 season on the Storm list.

Dean Britt, Mark Nicholls, Vincent Leuluai were all playing for Melbourne last season before making the switch to Redfern.

Victorian junior Richard Kennar played nine games for Storm in 2015, while Hymel Hunt also made three appearances in purple during that season.

Jesse Arthars is another graduate who the Rabbitohs' have signed from the Storm's Thunderbolts development program.

It certainly adds another fascinating subplot to Friday night's top of the table clash at ANZ Stadium.

Melbourne Storm have won 24 of 29 meetings against South Sydney, including 11 of the last 12 - a record Seibold will no doubt be desperate to halt when he goes up against his former mentor.
