Ryan Hoffman doesn't quite understand his young teammates sometimes, after all for some he is 14 years their senior.

Different interests, different priorities, very different lives.

The gym playlist often sees the contrasting generations go head-to-head.

"The music is the big one," Hoffman said.

"Cameron and I like to play our music in the gym, even the RnB stuff from the 90s that we thought they might know, they don't have a clue about.

"I'll be honest with you, half the stuff they talk about I don't understand."

However it is that youthful surrounding that has seen Hoffman back to enjoying his football at the Club he has always called home.

On game day he only needs to glance to his immediate left or right to get a spring in his step.

The 34-year-old has played 217 more NRL games than Cameron Munster and Curtis Scott combined. Now in the 16th season of his professional career, it is a new and exciting challenge he is relishing.

"I am really enjoying being part of an edge with Cameron, Curtis, Josh, some really young and exciting players who love the ball and want to be around the footy," Hoffman said.

"You cannot help but feel a bit younger around them to be quite honest. I think I am older than them by about 10 years but I am enjoying my football and enjoying being back in the purple jersey."
