The incredible journey of #187

Justin Olam will today become Storm player No.187 when he pulls on the purple jersey for the first time.

It adds another chapter to a remarkable story for the 24-year-old who becomes just the second player from Papua New Guinea to play for Melbourne Storm.

Marcus Bai was the first, having been part of the inaugural Storm side in 1998 and going on to have an illustrious career that saw him score 70 tries in 144 games for the Club.

Now 20 years later Olam will take his place in the Storm side after being named in the centres for the Sunday afternoon clash against the top of the table Dragons.

Olam joined Melbourne last year after catching the eye of Storm recruiters whilst playing for the PNG Hunters in the Queensland Cup.

He has spent the last 14 months performing strongly for feeder club Sunshine Coast and last week played his best game in Falcons colours.

Now we will complete his journey from PNG to the purple jersey with everyone back home and the entire Storm family ready to cheer him on.
