Christian Welch walked into Melbourne Storm in 2013 as a fresh-faced teenager dreaming of playing NRL.

One of his first tasks as a Storm player was to study up on a player in the competition who played a similar position to him.

Welch was given vision James Graham, the now Dragons prop who we will go head-to-head with in this Sunday' top four clash.

"I was given an assignment to go and look at James Graham and the way he plays his game," Welch said.

"I had a lot of video review of James and loved what I found. He is aggressive, a team-first player and his work ethic is second to none in the competition.

"James is all about the effort and working for his team. It is the little things that don't get picked up on. I certainly appreciate the way he plays his rugby league, I'm a big fan."

Welch will line up alongside Nelson Asofa-Solomona on Sunday as Storm's starting prop rotation.

The 23-year-old has earned the promotion after a consistent start to the season as an impact player off the bench for Craig Bellamy.

It will be a great test for the young forwards who will face a red-hot Dragons pack that have Origin selection in their sights.

"You put (Graham) together with Jack De Belin and Paul Vaughn who are probably going to play for NSW this year, they have got a formidable team."

Kick-off will be at 2pm on Sunday at Jubilee Stadium. Storm fans will be able to watch the game LIVE on Fox League.
