After not being able to break into the side during his first season in Melbourne, Nicholls saw his persistence pay off to play a total of nine games in 2017.
A debut in the purple jersey came in Round 5 at AAMI Park against Penrith.
Nicholls stepped up when his side needed him during the Origin period to feature in seven games from Rounds 10-20.
With ball in hand he proved to be a tough one to contain, gaining an average of nearly 10 metres whenever he touched the football.
His impact off the bench was also felt at the defensive end as he averaged a tackle every 90 seconds he was on the field.
After two years in Melbourne, Nicholls will depart the Club to join South Sydney.
