Storm skipper Cameron Smith is now just one man of the match honour away from equaling the all-time record held by Wally Lewis.

Smith was at his mercurial best on Wednesday night as he helped Queensland to their 11th series win in the last 12 years.

The 34-year-old was named man of the match for the seventh time in his 42-game Origin career, finishing with 105 metres and 37 tackles.

He now sits just one behind the great Wally Lewis who was named best on ground on eight occasions.

Smith remains contracted to Storm until at least the end of 2018 and given the master class he put on in this year’s decider, there is plenty of time to match or even overtake Lewis, further cementing his claim as a future immortal.
