Felise Kaufusi is being considered for Game I of this year’s State of Origin series.

A standout start to the 2017 season has seen Kaufusi come into serious contention for a call up to Kevin Walter’s Queensland side.

The 24-year-old has played every minute, of every game this season and has made a spot his own during Melbourne’s 8-1 start.

After being named 18th man in the final game of the 2016 series, Kaufusi could be set for an Origin debut when the series kicks off at Suncorp Stadium on May 31.

“Felise has impressed us,” Maroons legend and selector Darren Lockyer told The Courier Mail.

“When he played against the Broncos earlier this year, he put some big shots on in an important part of the game. He’s got potential and he suits the Origin arena because of his aggression.

“The good thing for us is that Felise comes from a good system. Melbourne players have minimal bad habits and that’s what you want from an Origin player because you can’t afford costly mistakes.

“Craig Bellamy is renowned for it. He has a knack of finding someone with a bit of promise and he has got the best out of Kaufusi.”

Queensland will name their side for Game I on May 22.
