Back in training with his Storm teammates for the first time in nearly eight months Billy Slater is excited to have the Steeden back in his hands.

“It’s good to be back,” Slater told Storm TV

“Pre-season is never easy but after what I’ve endured over the last two years, just getting back in training and getting some running into my legs has been good.

After missing a large portion of the 2015 season due to injury, Slater returned in Round 1, 2016 only to be sidelined again by a shoulder complaint, missing the bulk of the year. The champion fullback however is back in training and making strides towards a return.

“I haven’t trained with the boys for about eight months. To get back out on the park and throw the footy around is a lot better than just running so I’ve enjoyed that,” Slater said.

“What I’ve enjoyed pre-Christmas is getting that fitness base and obviously working towards playing next year.”
