One of the hard luck stories of 2016, Billy Slater’s season lasted just 80 minutes.

The champion fullback suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the Round 1 win over the Dragons.

After undergoing surgery, Slater returned to the club to commence his rehabilitation in the middle part of the year.

Slater proved his professionalism and competitive drive was as great as ever when he mounted a late-season claim for a finals return.

While the 33-year-old was not able to get back on the field this season, all signs point to Slater getting back to his best in 2017.
