A rugby league season can be a tough grind, even tougher when you’re just 19 years of age.
Coping with the travel, the training and the physicality can all wear a young team down towards the back end of the season.
However the Thunderbolts showed last week they are a team still with plenty to give in 2016.
Their 48-14 win over the Rabbitohs saw them record their seventh win of the season.
The result was a culmination of hard work and some renewed energy the side has enjoyed in recent weeks.
Be at AAMI Park when we take on the Broncos, Friday 26 August, 7:30pm.
“Over the last few weeks we’ve had a couple of guys make their debut which has brought a bit of energy to the squad,” Thunderbolts coach Eric Smith said.
“Having those new guys come in has definitely helped out as well, it has added a little bit of life to the squad.
“As a whole I think as a group they’ve been preparing themselves really well and holding themselves well for the back end of the year.”
The Thunderbolts face a difficult test against an in-form Canberra side on Saturday.
The Raiders, like their NRL team, have won six games in a row to sky-rocket into the top eight on the NYC ladder.
Storm’s Under-20s will look to cause the upset but will need to continued on from their efforts of last week to do so.
