Greg Inglis has praised his former skipper following Saturday night’s thrilling clash at AAMI Park.
Cameron Smith converted a 39-metre penalty kick to level the scores before winning the game for Storm with a field goal in golden point.
Inglis played 117 games for Melbourne alongside Smith knows as well as anyone what the champion hooker is capable of.
The Rabbitohs captain may have been on the wrong end of Smith’s match-winning ability on the weekend but Inglis could not help but praise his counterpart after the game.
“Cameron Smith is just the ultimate player,” Inglis said.
“That is just the leader he is and the player he is. He takes his opportunities when he can and unfortunately for us he took it out in golden point.”
Be at AAMI Park when we take on the Broncos, Friday 26 August, 7:30pm.
